We receive phone calls on a weekly basis asking us if we can assist with obtaining evidence to prove an ex-partner is working and earning a steady income. The client states that their ex-partner has informed the Child Support Agency (Human Services) that they are making very little money, or not even working. In turn, their payments for child support decrease lowering the amount they have to pay to our client. This can be very stressful, unfair, and fraudulent.
Yes, we can obtain evidence of them attending a workplace on a regular basis. It’s even better when they wear a uniform or use company vehicles. This can certainly create some doubt that their claims of little to no earnings aren’t factual and the government department may wish to investigate further. We can’t however obtain any sort of specific financial information regarding income or breach any form of privacy laws.
In most cases having clear video and documented journal evidence of an ex-partner attending a workplace location over consecutive days, sometimes over multiple weeks, paints enough of a picture that the small amount of income they are claiming may not be true. This evidence will allow you to apply for a Change or Assessment with CSA and have them review your case.
Feel free to call us to discuss your specific case and we’ll provide a no obligation quote for services.
